1st/2nd Grade Teacher
Chris holds a bachelor’s degree from Rice University with a double major in Art History and English. He also completed a master’s degree at UC Irvine in Visual Studies with a certificate in Gender and Women’s Studies.
In 2012 Chris moved to the East Bay from Austin, Texas, where he worked as a middle school college prep tutor with AISD, and as a 2nd grade reading tutor with Austin Partners in Education. From 2014 to 2016, Chris worked as a teaching assistant for a 2nd/3rd grade classroom at Aurora School in Oakland. Chris earned his California teaching credential from the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute, concurrently with a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of the Pacific. He believes that education is a life-long process and that good elementary teachers enkindle self-reflective curiosity that sustains students during and well after their experiences in the classroom.
Chris enjoys collaborating with the many members of the Crestmont community. In his free time, Chris loves exploring regional parks, crafting with fiber arts, and hanging out with his human and canine companions, Michael and Comrade.
